Your Role

We’d love you to come and join our Stockport Family! Here in Stockport, we’re looking for driven, dedicated, and caring children’s social workers to help support some of our most important people, our children and their families.

We have an exciting opportunity for a social worker to join our Domestic Abuse Team on a permanent basis. The Domestic Abuse Team is a small team of specialist social workers with a dedicated Domestic Abuse Team Leader. The team work collaboratively with multi-agency colleagues from children’s social care, health, education, police, and wider community organisations, including IDVAs to support best practice in relation to domestic abuse where children and families are affected. The team works alongside locality social work colleagues with families to support the planning, assessment and interventions that take place. The team also represent children’s social care in forums such as daily risk meetings, MARAC, and MAPPA, sharing information and contributing to risk assessment and safety planning.  The domestic abuse team also contribute to the development of wider learning and training opportunities for the wider service and support the delivery of the Caring Dads programme.

This role will have a particular focus on working with those who cause harm; supporting colleagues to intervene and engage with fathers/men and perpetrators of domestic abuse and will become a facilitator of Caring Dads.

Here’s what one of the social workers have said about their experience the Domestic Abuse Team: -

‘We have a really lovely, supportive team which gives so many opportunities to work closely with families and bring about meaningful change. There are some amazing colleagues and managers who bring tonnes of knowledge and skills and it’s a very friendly ‘lets learn from each other’ atmosphere. I’ve worked here nearly 9 years and it really is a great team to be a part of!’ Sarah Jane, Social Worker
