Your Role

Stockport Council is currently embarking on an ambitious programme to transform Stockport.  Whether it’s delivering the new bus interchange in the town centre, working on the business case for Metrolink to Stockport, advancing redevelopment work at Stockport Rail Station or supporting the huge regeneration programme in Town Centre West, Stockport is taking direct action to deliver on our ‘Five Big Things’ One Stockport Strategy.  This is in addition to the daily work that the Strategic Infrastructure Service undertakes to support the 300,000 residents that choose to live, work and play in Stockport.

Do you want to be part of the journey that Stockport is currently on?  Do you want to be actively involved in the delivery of an £80m capital programme and help transform the borough?  If your answer is ‘yes’, then Stockport Council could just be the right fit for you.

We’re looking for an ambitious and forward-thinking Graduate Civil Engineer to join the Strategic Infrastructure Service.  You could be directly contributing to work that makes a significant difference to the future of Stockport and its residents.  Stockport Council is a busy working environment.   You will be directly supported with structured learning and experience that directly contribute to the achievement of a professional qualification.

About You

This role does not have any specific degree requirement and candidates will be considered from a range of academic disciplines.  However, academic areas that would be suited to the role would include civil engineering and relevant maths based degrees.  All applying candidates need to be motivated to undertake a professional accreditation (i.e., ICE, CIHT, CILT, MRTPI, CTPP etc) and they will be supported in gaining the experience to achieve that key career milestone.

We are looking for someone who is creative, well-organised and has a professional approach to support all aspects of the delivery of highway improvements and the Council’s Corporate Objectives.
