Your Role 
 
Stockport Council’s Sensory Support Service work with deaf children and young people in educational settings. We require people to be available on an ad- hoc casual supply basis to cover the sickness absence of Specialist Teaching Assistants for deaf children and young people. This role supports the development, learning, educational progress, independence and inclusion of deaf children and young people in their school settings. 
 
The cover work would be based at either our primary or secondary resourced provision for deaf children/young people who use a sign- bilingual communication mode (both speaking and listening and BSL). This is an opportunity to develop effective skills in supporting and working with deaf children and young people in educational settings. 
 
About You 
 
The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, including a minimum of British Sign Language level 2. You would be supported in your role by a friendly team and the team leader for deaf children and young people. We welcome applications from people who are deaf or hearing.
