Corporate Support Services Officer - Democratic Services and Elections Teams

£24,313 - £26,317 plus pension, flexible working and other benefits

37 Hours, Full Time

If you like the idea of being at the heart of things, this post offers the chance to work at the centre of the Council’s decision making process. You will gain valuable experience of the democratic process and will develop the necessary skills and experience to have an exciting and fulfilling career in local government or a related field. 

This is a challenging and varied post. You will be providing professional, high quality administrative and procedural support to both committee and member bodies and the Mayoralty. You will support colleagues by attending meetings, helping to ensure rules are followed, preparing agendas, reports, decision records and minutes. Your workload is likely to vary according to the needs of the team, therefore high levels of flexibility and adaptability are required. 

You will also support the administration function of the Elections Team whilst learning about the process of local elections, by-elections, Greater Manchester Mayoral Elections, General Elections, referendums, Canvass Reform and the importance of maintaining an up to date Electoral Register. 

We need a team player with good ICT skills. You will also be able to display tact, diplomacy and an ability to maintain confidentiality at all times. Interested persons should note that the post is politically restricted and brings a commitment to attend evening meetings when required for which you will be compensated for via the work life balance scheme operating within this service area.
