Salary: SO3, GBP 30,785 - GBP 35,444

We are seeking to recruit a highly experienced officer to join our Commercial Team to lead on workplace health and safety enforcement and regulation across Stockport.   The team is part of the Public Safety and Protection Service based in Fred Perry House in the centre of Stockport, 5 minutes away from the bus and train stations and the M60.  The Service covers environmental health, trading standards, licensing, building control, pest control, hygiene action and cemeteries.  The Commercial Team is responsible for the regulation and enforcement of food hygiene and standards, workplace health and safety, infectious diseases,   animal health and welfare, product safety and legal metrology.

 

The successful applicant will be responsible for training colleagues, developing a proactive health and safety inspection programme, undertaking accident and health & safety complaint investigation as well as undertaking project work.  It would be advantageous if the successful candidate is qualified and competent (in accordance with the Food Law Code of Practice 2017) to work in food safety also. 

 

You must have worked as an authorised officer under section 19 of the Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974 and hold a relevant qualification such as a Diploma/BSc/MSc in Environmental Health, or NEBOSH Diploma, or equivalent with extensive relevant experience.
