The School

Hulme Hall Grammar School is an 11-16 co-educational School in South Manchester. The School was established in 1928 and has 300 pupils on roll. The School prides itself on being a caring, supportive environment where every pupil is treated as an individual. Small class sizes in combination with very good teaching lead to consistently good examination results.

The Post

We are seeking a creative, innovative and enthusiastic Teacher of Food and Nutrition. The post would be suitable for a good classroom practitioner at any stage of their career, and applications from newly-qualified teachers are welcome. The successful candidate will be expected to teach Food and Nutrition to Years 7-11.

The Food and Nutrition curriculum 

Key Stage 3 classes receive 1 x 1 hour  lesson per week. GCSE classes  receives 5 hours curriculum time per fortnight.

Line of responsibility

The Teacher is responsible to the Assistant Head Curriculum.

Operational responsibilities:

1. Provide pupils with a role model for standards of interpersonal and professional conduct 

2. Ensure that the quality of teaching, learning and behaviour in lessons and tutor time is of the highest possible standard.

3. Assess and report on pupil progress and give clear, constructive feedback which will assist each pupil to raise their achievement and reach their goals 

4. Contribute to the raising of achievement in the subject and year teams, to include taking responsibility for the Department development plan and development of schemes of work 
 
5. Implement all aspects of the school’s policies 

6. Contribute to the school’s process of self-evaluation. 

7. Take responsibility for her/his own professional development, using the outcomes to improve teaching and learning 

8. Contribute to pupils’ wider development in the school 

9. Carry out any other duties which may reasonably be required by the Assistant Head Curriculum or the Headteacher.

Essential: 

- Good honours degree in a relevant subject area
- Qualified Teacher Status
- Evidence of good / outstanding classroom practice
- Strong subject knowledge
- Familiar with current developments in subject area
- Strong organisation and time management skills
- Evidence of good relationships with children and young people
- Evidence of a team approach to the teaching of your specialist subject including the development of teaching resources 
 
Desirable:

- Evidence of recent and relevant professional development
- Ability to contribute to the wider community life of the school
