Democratic and Electoral Services – Business Administration Apprentice

We have an exciting opportunity for a flexible and well organised Apprentice to join our busy Democratic and Electoral Services Team. The successful applicant will gain a variety of administrative skills supporting the delivery of local and national elections as well as the publication of the annual Electoral register and monthly updates. The role also includes providing administrative support to enable the smooth and efficient delivery of Council committees and meetings, delivery of civic events and the administration of school appeals. 

We are looking for someone with good communication skills to deal with Councillors, candidates, election agents and council officers. In addition, you will be engaging with the public, face to face, via telephone and email dealing with a range of queries relating to the service. Excellent IT skills are essential. 

You will be expected to work to tight deadlines and be willing to be flexible in your day to day working, prepared to work extended hours, including evenings and occasional weekends to assist with civic events and in the busy period leading up to elections taking place.
