Do you want to play an essential role in the lives of Stockport Residents?

Significant events such as births, deaths and marriages affect us all at some point in our lives.  Corporate Support Services is looking to appoint a Registration Assistant in its Events and Registrars team.

As a Registration Assistant you will provide a high-quality frontline Registration Service for residents of Stockport.  Attention to detail will be imperative.  The service is highly regulated in line with all legislation, procedures and performance standards determined by the General Register Office (Home Office).

As a Registration Assistant you will be responsible for registering births, deaths; and arranging preliminaries to marriages and civil partnerships.  The role encompasses a range of back-office functions as well as customer-facing registration appointments.  The postholder will need to demonstrate care and compassion in dealing with families, particularly when dealing with death registrations.

Events and Registrars is a relatively new team within the Council and being a team player is essential.  The wider team is now much more commercial in its activity, being responsible for events at various Council venues including the Town Hall, Bramall Hall and Chadkirk Chapel.

Training will be provided for all the necessary Registration duties, so prior experience of working in the Registration service is not essential.

Please contact Sharon Knight (Registration Service Manager) on 0161 474 3444 or at sharon.knight@stockport.gov.uk for an informal discussion about the role.
