The Health Protection Practitioner post has been developed to provide operational support within the Health Protection Team as part of the Public Health Directorate in the areas of infection prevention and control, health care associated infections, immunisation and outbreak management across Stockport Health Economy. Linking with key stakeholders such as Care Homes, Local Authority Adult Social Care Teams, and other agencies such as the Care Quality Commission, Public Health England, the Clinical Commissioning Group, and also other Local Authority Health Protection Teams.

The postholder needs to be a NMC registered nurse with knowledge of procedures and policies relating to infection prevention and control, immunisation, outbreak control and management and health protection interventions, whilst being self-motivated, with the ability to work to deadlines, maintaining relationships with key stakeholders and multiagency organisations.
