£8.21 per hour 25 and over
£7.70 per hour 21 to 24 years
£6.15 per hour 8 to 20 years
£4.35 per hour Under 18

Stockport Council are offering an exciting new apprenticeship career opportunity within our Financial Management Accountancy and Internal Audit Teams. You will be part of a dynamic team that delivers key financial support through across all levels of front line Council services. 

A normal day would include:
• Extracting information from our financial system (SAP) and analyzing it. 
• Reacting to email queries from service leads about the financial information.   
• Supporting the Management accountants with demand lead projects.
• Adding value to the service by acting as a critical friend to decision makers. 
• Maintaining and monitoring the financial ledgers.
• Producing key Microsoft excel reports.
• Be able develop maintain key relationships with council colleagues. 
• Supporting audit professionals in carrying out reviews on a wide range of Council services including schools.
• Analysing financial and other data as part of a review.
• Completing working papers and reports to summarise your findings.
• Meeting with a wide range of staff of different levels throughout the Council to discuss control and risk issues.

What you should have to apply:
• Essential - GCSE or equivalent in Maths and English.
• Have a proactive attribute to continuous learning and development.
• Aptitude for analysing complex data.

Personal Qualities:
• Well organised
• Attention to detail
• Team Player
• Friendly and Approachable
• Hardworking and positive attitude
• Be calm under pressure
• Be able to prioritise multiple complex tasks
• Confident in your abilities

Skills:
• IT Microsoft Office – Particularly Excel.
• Able to communicate both verbally and written to a high level.
• Excellent interpersonal skill.
• Excellent Information technology abilities and skills.
• Excellent analytical skills.

How you will be supported?
You will report directly to a highly skilled Management Accountant/Internal Auditor that has previous experience of supporting council apprentices.  They will provide you with guidance and support that will help empower you to be successful within your apprenticeship. 

The finance apprenticeship program also grants you access to dedicated talent coach to guide you through your learning.  

What will happen next?
Deadline for Applications is the 23rd September 

Shortlisting and selection will commencing week commencing on the 23rd of September. If successful, you will be invited to interview on the week commencing 7th October 2019.
