Senior Social Work Practitioner – Children with Disability Team – Stockport Family
Full-time, Permanent, 37 hours
Salary: S03 (£32,029 - £36,876)

Following on from the inspection Stockport were invited to bid to become a DfE Partner in Practice and we were delighted to be awarded this status in March 2018.
You will join us as we continue on our SEND improvement journey following the Local Area SEND inspection in September 2018. The report highlighted a number of strengths including that Stockport families benefit from passionate, knowledgeable and dedicated frontline workers and young children with SEND have their needs well met. Inspectors found 5 areas that required significant improvement and we are moving ahead at pace on our journey of improvement, working co-productively with parents/carers and young people.  

Senior Social Work Practitioners in Stockport Family have a very important role to play which is why we make sure they have access to the best support, development and training opportunities.

The role 

When you join Stockport Family as a senior social work practitioner on the children with disabilities team you will have the opportunity to work with children throughout their time with statutory social care services. You will be working from the point of referral into the service, through assessment, child in need/team around the child support, child protection, pre- proceedings and court work, children in care and adoption through to step down/step out of involvement with children’s social care.  

You will be model best practice and support and mentor team colleagues including ASYE social workers to develop their practice to be outstanding.  You will bring your passion, knowledge, skills and enthusiasm to deliver services that have a positive impact on the daily lived experience of our children and families.

You will work alongside the locality social work teams and with colleagues from health and early years, as well as other borough-wide specialist services so that you can access the support, and advice you need easily to deliver the best interventions for children and families, in a system where we share problems and look for solutions together rather than try off-load or refer them to others.
