We’re working with people across the Council and our partner organisations to make interacting with us simpler, clearer and faster. We want our services to be easily accessible for residents, businesses and visitors to the borough, whenever and however they need to use them.

We are looking for a service designer who can understand complex services, technology and most importantly people.

This role will give you the opportunity to:
  • Work within multidisciplinary teams (including UX designers, content designers and business analysts) to work through the design process and deliver great services
  • Assist in developing the overall visions of our services
  • Design and conduct user research and testing to understand user context and needs better, and champion users throughout the design process 
  • Be creative and innovative in how and what you design
  • Tackle challenging projects and impact the lives of people in a positive way
  • Develop and learn within a collaborative environment
Here’s what you’ll bring:
  • Proficiency with basic service design tools and methods (eg. journey mapping, personas, stakeholder maps) and the ability to try and adapt new ones
  • Strong knowledge of human centred design with a proven track record of applying it to projects
  • Experience of solving complex problems in a holistic way, and the ability to find creative solutions that meet the needs of the business and our users
  • An  understanding of inclusive design and accessibility to make services useable for everyone
  • Ability to synthesise research insights and turn them into design recommendations
  • Ability to use qualitative and quantitative data to monitor the user experience of our products and services 
  • Understanding of working in an agile environment with rapidly changing deadlines, workloads and goals
  • Excellent visual communication skills (sketching and digital)
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills 
  • Willingness to learn and share
