Data Analyst – Education
Scale 6 £24,982-£27,041
Full Time
Permanent
An opportunity has arisen for an Education Data Analyst to join Stockport MBC, where we are investing in the latest business intelligence and data analytics technology to drive improvement and change across the organisation through the provision of high-quality insight.
Effective use and analysis of data is fundamental to helping us to achieve our ambitions for the residents of Stockport. We need strong insight and robust intelligence that drives service design, improvement and transformation leading to positive outcomes for local people.
We are offering permanent jobs with flexible working options, good salaries and a generous pension – in an organisation that has the scale and ambition to create career opportunities for talented people.
Role overview:
You will have a passion for data analysis, the technical skills to query and analyse large and complex data sources, and a desire to work with our schools to provide the service that they expect. You will bring an experience of working accurately and methodically, turning data into insight, working with our stakeholders to ensure their needs are met, and translating complex analysis into plain English. You will have a strong attention to detail and be numerate.
As the Education Analyst you will work within the Education Data Team, which is focused on developing and delivering the data, business intelligence and data analytics requirements for our primary stakeholders - chiefly our schools - but also our School Improvement Team, and wider Council leads.
You will work with our schools using their SIMS system. You will also use MS Excel frequently, so experience here is essential. You will also use computer languages such as VBA and SQL, but some training can be provided. Experience of an industry-standard data visualisation tool would also be useful taking the role forward. You will also be involved in various aspects of business intelligence and data analysis, from producing operational dashboards to presenting data and findings etc.
We would ideally like to hear from candidates with experience of working in the Education sector. The successful applicant will be employed on a contract that is generic across all Council Corporate and Support Services, providing significant career opportunities across a range of service areas.
