Are you an experienced childminder/early years practitioner/teacher looking for an exciting new challenge? Could you inspire others in order to improve the quality of their early years’ provision and teaching which makes a difference to the outcomes for children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) across the borough?
The Stockport Early Years Improvement Team is seeking to appoint an Early Years SEND Improvement Officer (EY SEND IO) to work across Stockport with local early years settings. Their role is to improve the quality of childcare and early education places with a specific focus on the identification and assessment of children with additional needs, modelling inclusive teaching practice which impacts on improving outcomes for children and school readiness. The Early Years Improvement Team is a highly regarded service within the council and has a strategic role in raising the quality of early years provision and improving standards in educational attainment by the age of 5. This is achieved through working in strong partnership with local childminders, settings and schools and children’s services within the council.
This role will be a temporary contract (to cover maternity leave) working full time, all year round. This post will be for 12 months or on the return of the substantive post holder. Applications from those wishing for a secondment opportunity are welcome to apply.
Grade and salary SO1 scale £27,741 - £32,234
The successful applicant will have;
• A recognised early years qualification to at least a level 6 or EYT/EY Degree/QTS
• A secure knowledge of child development and effective early years pedagogy to ensure personalised learning enables all children to be resilient and make strong progress in the EYFS curriculum relative to their individual starting points.
• Strong interpersonal skills to work confidently and collaboratively with early years settings and as part of the council’s integrated service delivery in supporting the early identification and support for children with SEND and their families.
• An understanding of recent national developments in early years with specific reference to SEND.
The successful applicant’s appointment will be subject to satisfactory pre-employment clearances including a Disclosure and Barring Service check.
