We are looking for an Infrastructure Technician to join our IT Infrastructure Support Team.

The team supports, maintains and develops our organisation’s IT infrastructure comprising our data centre, networking, servers and has responsibility for cybersecurity compliance.

If you are an enthusiastic team player with experience of working in an IT infrastructure role and working on technical projects, then this job is for you.

  • Windows Server software/hardware
  • Cyber Security and Compliance
  • VMware server and network virtualisation
  • SQL Database Administrator (DBA) Skills 
  • Network Management and support
  • Server network and data security
This post would suit people with experience working in the following areas:
  • Configuring, administering and securing Windows servers
  • Working within a VMware environment
  • Deploying and administering MS SQL databases
  • Configuring and administering Cisco switches and routers 
  • LAN/WAN/Wi-Fi network development and support
  • Firewalls, checkpoint or Cisco
  • VoIP and Unified Communications systems
  • Data centre management, cabling, racking, UPS, CRAC
  • 2nd/3rd Line IT Support Environment experience
Typical tasks and duties:
  • To provide best practice guidance and a strategic view for the maintenance and deployment of the council IT Infrastructure.
  • To undertake the management of major projects related to the security of the infrastructure systems and services.
  • To be responsible for implementing, monitoring, administrating and configuring system software and hardware related to infrastructure systems and services.
  • Working closely with the IT Service Desk Team to provide 2nd 3rd line break/fix support.
