Adult Social Care – Equipment and Adaptation Team

Scale 4  £18,070 - £20,138

CONTRACT TYPE – Permanent

CONTRACT HOURS – Full Time – 37 hours

 

 

Your Role

 

A rewarding opportunity has arisen to join our Handyperson Services to provide valuable adaptations, such as stair rails, handrails and grabs rails, external step reforms, Telecare and sensory loss equipment in the homes of service users. This hands on role will see you working closely with Stockport residents to assist them to live independently at home as safely as possible.


About You

The role requires excellent practical skills, a wide range of experience of carrying out repairs within domestic properties, a background in DIY as well as experience of carrying out work to a high standard.

Strong customer care and interpersonal skills with a positive can do attitude are essential. Elements of the role will involve being able to deal with a heavy and physically demanding caseload whilst maintaining a professional approach at all times.

A current driving licence is essential along with the requirement to pass the Council’s driving test. A successful DBS Check is also a requirement of the role.

Stockport Council has recently introduced six new wellbeing and prevention services to improve health and social care services across the borough. One of which is wellbeing and independence at home. The council is committed to supporting individuals in and around their home environment to enable its users to continue living in their own homes, independently and safely.

 

Successful applicants from the formal interview stage will be asked to attend a further session giving opportunity to demonstrate practical skills. A portfolio / photographs outlining examples of work/ projects carried out, with references, will be required. At the session a practical task will also be undertaken.
