The role
This is an exciting opportunity for a talented and experienced individual to assist the Council in realising its ambitions. You will  handle an interesting and varied workload and provide advice on a number of high profile projects as a senior legal advisor to the Council.   The successful applicant will play a key role in helping to deliver the Council’s transformation plans.  

You will:
• Be a qualified solicitor (or equivalent) with hands-on real estate experience in development work with 3+ years’ PQE
• Engage in a broad spectrum of work including strategic land and development projects
• Act as a senior legal advisor on complex property work to help the Council in the delivery of its strategic objectives
• Have an eye for detail and good organisational skills, which will enable you to carry a substantial workload
• Be enthusiastic, committed and take a proactive approach to progressing transactions within deadlines and budgets
• Build and sustain excellent collaborative working relationships with client departments, colleagues, Members, partners and other stakeholders
• Enjoy working as part of a dynamic, commercial and pragmatic team
• Actively contribute towards the team’s precedents and internal know-how

About us

Stockport Council is involved in a number of exciting developments and investments which will have a direct and positive impact on our communities.  There has been significant progress during the last 18 months in delivering the Council’s ambitious £1 billion investment into regeneration of the borough.  In particular:

• 1 Stockport Exchange was fully let within just six months of completion and the next phase at Stockport Exchange is currently on site
• Redrock opened to rave reviews with visitor numbers in the first year double those that were predicted
• 8 out of the 10 brand new industrial units at Aurora Stockport are already let
• As part of the Town Centre Access Plan, project works are underway to construct a new link road between Travis Brow and the A6
