A training school for thirteen years and a Teaching School for a further six, CHHS is home to the Altius Alliance centre of excellence providing School Centred Initial Teacher Training (SCITT) for teachers of students aged 11-16, judged Outstanding in 2017.

We are currently looking to recruit a Learning Support Assistant to join our growing team.
This position is Fixed Term, until 31st August 2020
Salary: Scale 4 from £19,554- £21,166 subject to pro rata per annum and mid year start (£10.14-£10.97 per hour)
Hours: 32 hours per week, term time only
Key Responsibilities

To support identified students within the classroom environment, within small group situations and on a one to one basis.

Work with teachers to enhance student progress, whilst also promoting their independence, self-esteem and social inclusion.

Contribute to the development of programs which support students with SEND
-
Act as keyworker for students with SEND in order to support their progress throughout school.

Collaboratively working with all members of the pastoral team, to support the progress of students with SEND

Contribute to the Learning Support Key Worker Programme

Be a point of contact for students and their parents/carers
Knowledge & Experience
-
Ability to support teaching staff to enable students to achieve their full potential

ICT skills – SIMS, Word, Excel

Ability to motivate and encourage individuals and small groups of students under supervision

Ability to assess, record, monitor and report on the progress of learners

Solution focused

An understanding of safeguarding issues

An understanding of the principals of child development and learning processes

An up to date knowledge and understanding of the practices and procedures within SEN, relating to the welfare, safety and education of students

Technical knowledge of computer hardware

Minimum Maths & English GCSE (A*-C) or equivalent

Vocational qualification(s) relevant to the post
