Teacher of Vision Impairment (0.6FTE)

SALARY: Salary Grade: MPS/UPS plus SEN allowance depending on qualifications.
0.6FTE pro-rata, term time only, one year temporary contract to be reviewed towards the end of tenure with a view to possible extension.
Casual car user allowance


We are looking to appoint a suitably qualified and experienced Teacher of  Vision Impairment to work to support the development, learning, educational progress, independence and inclusion of children and young people who have vision impairment.

The person appointed will work as part of the peripatetic service, providing teaching, advice and guidance for children and young people with vision impairment, and their families, from 0-25 years. 
The person appointed will work as part of a team under the guidance of the Head of Service and Vision Impairment Team Leader. 

The role involves work in a range of educational settings, and sometimes in homes.
The ability to provide advice, training and support to settings as well as assessment and teaching support for individual children and young people is essential. 

A flexible approach to working and good communication skills are essential.
Ideally we would like to recruit a qualified Teacher of Vision Impairment however consideration will be given to recruitment of a qualified teacher with the appropriate skills and experience, in which case relevant support would be offered. Should this contract be extended beyond one year or made permanent at any time, the person appointed would eventually need to hold the mandatory qualification for teaching children of vision impairment to remain in employment longer term with the service.
