Job Title: Behaviour Support Learning Mentor

Hours of Post: 37 hours, term time only

8.00am – 4.00pm Monday to Thursday (30-minute lunch)

8.00am – 3.30pm Friday (30-minute lunch)

Contract Type: Permanent

Start Date of Post: As soon as possible

Salary Grade: NJC Scale 5, Points 12 to 17 (pro-rata)

 

This is a unique opportunity to join our school team. At Rose Hill Primary School we have a fantastic Forest School Provision led by our qualified practitioner. You will be working with both our SENDCo and Pastoral Manager to identify children who will benefit from your skills.

The successful candidate will often work outdoors in our Forest Schools (in all weathers!) using the facilities and principles of Forest Schools to support and engage with our children

 

We are looking for someone who loves the outdoors and can use that passion to:

 

1.         To provide, develop and maintain a high quality service for staff, parents and children within the school in order to widen educational access for children and support young people through overcoming their barriers to learning within the context of safeguarding and Early Help Assessment.

 

2.         To identify and provide a range of imaginative and creative programmes of support for children and young people with early signs of social, emotional, health or behavioural issues to enable their access to the social and academic curriculum, so their needs are met and their attainment, attendance and behaviour are improved.

           

3.         To promote and contribute to establishing pathways that enable the inclusion of all children and young people working within an integrated services framework so that they achieve their full potential and improve their life chances.

 

4.         To identify underachieving children and young people, or those at risk of underachieving and devise, deliver and coordinate programmes of support for them and their families, including parenting support.

 

5.         To work in a variety of ways to support, motivate and challenge pupils and raise levels of achievement. This will include support in class, 1:1 support and group activities.

 

6.         To organise, run or support school clubs that take place within and outside the school day that nurture the emotional and social development of identified children e.g. lunchtime clubs, school homework clubs etc. (within your working hours).

 

7.         Appraise the impact of programmes and interventions through sustained monitoring and evaluation.

 

8.         Reflective practice as part of mentoring process.

 

9.         The Learning Mentor will focus their work on preventative and early intervention activities to support pupils will offer a menu of activities to support our children. 

 

10.       The Learning Mentor will promote an understanding of the importance of parental influence on child development, and of parental engagement with their children’s learning on life long achievement through the key areas outlined below.
