Start Date : September 2021

Highfields Inclusion Partnership is a Pupil Referral Unit for Y7 to Y11 students who have been, or are at risk of being, excluded from mainstream schools. Many of the students are expected to stay at Highfields for two/three terms, then return to a mainstream school or transfer to a specialist provision.

Our aim is to re-engage students in education, enabling them to return to school or to move on to successful post 16 placements. Often the education packages are personalised to suit individual needs and include a variety of other interventions as part of a full wrap around service.

We are looking to appoint an inspirational teacher to join our developing Science department. We are an award-winning Pupil Referral Unit and this is an exciting time for a teacher who enjoys creativity and project development.

A strong commitment to raising achievement and standards is required, along with an informed, innovative and enthusiastic approach to curriculum delivery. We would welcome applications from teachers who have been trained to teach in primary schools as well as secondary – however, ability to deliver GCSE and BTEC Science qualifications is essential.

Strong interpersonal skills, resilience and a positive mind-set are also essential as the post involves working with disengaged learners – learners who can offer a lot but require cajoling and coaching, with some planning to meet specific learning needs.

We offer:

· Small class sizes of 4 – 10 and the opportunity to get to know students well

· Supportive and committed colleagues

· An opportunity to broaden your teaching experience in a specialist field

· A school that will actively support you in developing your career

The school is committed to the safeguarding and wellbeing of students and expects staff to share this commitment. The successful candidate will be required to undergo appropriate child protection screening including a DBS check.

Interested candidates are welcome to visit the school by prior arrangement with Business Manager, Susan Ryan.

Applications should be sent to Susan Ryan, Business Manager: susan.ryan@hip.stockport.sch.uk

Application Forms and a Covering Letter are required – CVs are not accepted.
